Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Techniques ~ Jamie Humphries Page Two

front cover If I liked SRV, and I do, I'd collect all the germane reviewed guitar lessons as they each contain little nuggets of guitar lore. I stopped at those three I mention. 2 featuring Greg Koch, one 2 disc set featuring Humphries.

If I really wanted to learn to be able to play guitar, and enjoy myself, as Stevie Ray Vaughan appeared to have been doing there are several places I recommend to start.

He started young. However, and don't take my word for it, if you already have some basic skills.

And perhaps 50 to 100 hours focused guitar activity under your fingers. No doubt you want to see, if perhaps, you are ready to apply same. You could do a lot worse than this lesson.

In my experience this electric guitar visual presentation is a worthy one. But not a 'lets learn guitar' starting point in and of itself.

See the site's main menu for several outstanding and value packed learn guitar lessons which I have discovered and recommend.

If you do go for this SRV lesson 2 disc set, make sure to check out the performances menu. Jamie is impressive and inspiring.

However he has huge hands and his thumb is a big part of his technique - for players, beginner or not, with small hands this is a problem. His thumb comes over the top of the neck and dampens his 5th 'A' string while fretting the 6th string note  - a lot. Now you know! My thumb still hurts trying this. Lots of guitar players with big hands do this and other enviable fret board stretches and contortions. Amos Garrett is one!
