The guitar playing is noninvasive and you can hear yourself think. But Chet's winning personality is what's keeping me here.
That and waiting for words of wisdom to stream from this mans mouth like the Dalai lama of guitar.
Chet is a high priest one from the inner pantheon of Guitar Gods plus he reminds me of my father. My father was interested in guitar and even took me to see Segovia. He didn't play though. Mr. Chet Atkins is not in the least a snob it it appears he's got a lot of soul too.
Here I am sitting one on one with Chet and am having a great time. I don't own any Chet Atkins records but do have a Gretch Chet Atkins Nashville with the painted on F holes and round leather back protector. Great guitar. Mines a got a serial number of 47358. I want it to be '67. Book says its probable.
Anyway Chet used to work/play with the Carter Family and our first song is one he wrote for Maybelle Carter. The more you hear this music the more you like it and appreciate the guitar playing.
So the gist of this review is that's its great showcase and all the tunes are excellent but Chet spends no time hardly showing you how to fingerpick with your picking hand. In my opinion if you want to start learning this is too advanced...way too advanced. Even if there is a pamphlet with TAB. Sure, like Forrest Gump, you could do it. Smart is as smart does.
