If you are primarily an acoustic guitar player don't hesitate to buy this even if you are a flat picker. If you are serious you will be pleased. And maybe even learn some fingerpicking by osmosis.
Think claw hammer Carter Family finger style for songsmithing. The one "Rock" finger picking thingy you must know, in my opinion, and because I copped it of a Johnny Winter album is Travis Picking flat pick style. You can make those changes with your pick instead as in Mean Town Blues off Johnny's Progressive Blues Experiment. That's just the tip of the iceberg using this lesson and your imagination. Incidentally Johnny used a thumb pick and learned Chet Atkins style guitar when a lad which is mostly all 'position' fingerpicking. He was great! R.I.P. Johnny!
