John Hammond Instructional for country style Blues Guitar: later years Page Three

One time that I saw John in Boston, he showed up for his usual solo gig but the people that owned this club in Cambridge called the Underground were apparently all top notch musicians themselves so made John do an electric set of his old very hip blues material and it was awesome. John didn't blink an eye.

You could tell he wasn't expecting to play electric but you could have fooled me into thinking that this was his back up band and they had a really accomplished keyboard player of conservatory level whom even John complimented. Sorry, but never learned who they were. Great gig!

My favorite John Hammond electric blues discs to buy: I Can Tell, Source Point, Southern Fried, Triumvirate. They are all more than worthy, even his others. 'You be fattening up frogs for snakes and telling all your friends how to correct all your mistakes'.
