Fingerpicking Guitar Techniques lesson I & II - Stefan Grossman Page Two

harmony and theory back coverAfter you are comfortable with finger picking notice that what I particularly like about this 2 lesson guitar lesson set is that it has a Lightning Hopkins song in it. Lightning tends to play in guitar friendly keys like A and E and sound pretty darn good too! A couple of other of Stefan's lessons cover Lightning Hopkins songs too and you should check out the lesson menus in each of my Stefan Grossman guitar lesson reviews so as to pick out your favorite players in specific of his lessons.

Stefan in addition to being a really knowledgable guitar player is a musicologist and can teach us a lot about American country roots guitar music. He also offers tracks of the original recordings for us to hear which is a unique feature as far as I am aware of concerning these old songs.

The first song he teaches us is "Oh Papa" using one chord, G, and sliding it down a half step. He shows us the technique using pinches and I do recommend this for beginners willing to work. lesson II is standard and drop D tuning and gets more advanced.
