Blues Guitar in 6 Weeks Albert King Style/week 6 - Steve Trovato Page Two

harmony and theory back coverIn this instance he starts it on the G note on 4th string/5th fret and ascends to the G note on the 2nd string at the 8th fret. He does the usual ascending and descending of the pattern taking great pains to show us the notes - perhaps too many pains. In plain English he is using two of the most beloved pentatonic boxes. If pentatonic Box one is under an E shape G bar chord at the third fret. Then Steve is starting on Box two and going up to box three.

This is all great having a guitar player as good as Steve Trovato going over the pentatonic scale position with you and showing you almost like a paint by numbers system how to join the most used for solos pentatonic scale patterns with switch points.

Because pentatonics are what its about really. In Blues and rock the pentatonic scale is something you want to learn to stretch out with and love practicing. So now I can merge all five positions. I am still getting it down and improving. I went to work on the patterns: up and down the whole neck - then the next pattern and so on with a metronome. It can and should become effortless - be able to do them in your sleep. Learn the "CAGED" frame work to have a foundation where you can learn your basic I IV V moves in the guitar friendly keys.

So to sum up this lesson buy it if you like Albert King because Steve shows us many choice Albert King licks and you don't see that every day. If money isn't an object then by all means buy all 6 and watch them guitar in hand. A good reference book would serve you in good stead and compliment the wisdom bestowed herein and that goes for the whole 6 week course. Pay attention, follow along, rinse, lather, repeat many times and you will attain rich lustrous chops. If Albert King is a main focus I review other guitar lessons focused on him so you should read those too. If I really wanted to sound like Albert King I would buy this Albert King Lesson. as being more faithful.

Here, if you get all 6 guitar lessons in the series, you build a foundation first which is recommended in a big way. Don't expect to sound like any of the artists mentioned however. Licklibrary takes poetic license to whole new level by using these artists names.
